This weekend as I slowly drove by a garage sale on the way home from picking up my daughters friend I spotted this piece of furniture with a “free” sign on it. It looked a bit different because it had a frightful brown futon mattress on it. You know what I mean …queen size folded “L” thing. I decided to stop even though I shouldn’t have due to my grubby Saturday morning, it’s the weekend and I don’t shower unless I have to, I’ve got projects to do, appearance. So, as the girls went running to check out all the treasures, I inquired about the futon. It was indeed totally free so I loaded it up pronto. I initially thought it would make a nice bed for my son’s room but since he is approaching 6 feet I decided to just resell it. Sans the old futon mattress. I’m going to make a brand new cushion and cover for it and some pillows and sell as a cute daybed.
Something like this…
Or this…
I’m also thinking I might make an additional blanket-ish cover for it. Like this adorable scalloped option…
Hopefully when I’m finished I can still part with it.
I got a new rug by the way. A couple weeks ago I saw it on craigslist and bought it. I haven’t seen a 12x 15′ rug in a long time and the price was soooo good. I’ve had a sisal rug under my dining table for a while and it was only 8 x 10′ , not big enough for a 60″ round table and eight chairs. What do you think? I love the colors and of course the size. It’s machine made rather than hand knotted but it still looks really nice and for the price I couldn’t pass it up.
Now I feel like I want to put a pink welt on my dining room chairs. I’ve been intending to change the chair covers for while but now I think I’ll just add welt and let them be for a while.
