I relocated the armoire that used sit next to my dining room table and replaced it with a painting. I was laboring over whether or not I should paint the dining chairs because this area seemed so brown. Brown armoire, brown chairs, tan table cloth, dark red area rug. I felt like I wanted to keep the chairs as is, so then I was contemplating painting the armoire a shade of grey to blend with the walls. When it occurred to me I should just move the armoire.
Since it was crowding the table anyway it was an easy decision. I didn’t even empty it or anything. I carefully slid it across the floor to it’s new location- sorta in my living room and next to my kitchen. The new location is so much more efficient because the space next to the sink(where the bread machine sits daily) is where I usually set up a drink station when we have parties. Much more sensible locale. duh
I still want to make a new table cloth and maybe get a round piece of glass cut for the top so I don’t have to use toppers. I’ve also been toying with making a new table and eliminating a table cloth all together. I love having a round table! It makes conversation so easy and it seems like you can add an infinite number of chairs and there’s always room for another.
A new area rug is in order eventually also. The rug is 8×10 and it’s swallowed up by the 60″ table. Plus the color and style are no longer my cup of tea. I’ve had it for 15 years so it’s had a good run. I’m not exactly sure what will replace it, but I have some ideas. We’ll see what turns up.
I love how it opened up the space and made the bar armoire more efficient. I don’t know why it takes so long to realize such a simple solution sometimes. I’m glad I hesitated to pull the trigger on my paint sprayer though. I’m ususally not that patient. It was close!
Also, the painting is just a place holder for now…I love the colors, but it’s an unfinished piece I started a while back. I may finish it, re-do it or maybe replace it.
What do you think?
